Posted on March 31, 2011 | No CommentsVirtual events innovator, INXPO, announced the general availability of INXPO VX Platform. The scalable, reliable, secure, and innovative platform is now the easiest to use and easiest to access as well. With VX, you can build completely new events in less than an hour. “Back when we started the company, virtual events were fairly complex to set up,” said Malcolm Lotzof, Co-Founder and CEO, INXPO. “Before VX Platform, I never created my own virtual event. Now I have. And in fact, my sales reps are building their own demo environments in VX Platform and arriving at the prospect’s door with a working prototype in hand,” continued Lotzof. To make content at events more accessible, VX Platform integrated a brand... Read More -
2010 Virtual EvenVirtual Environments Need to be Secure and the Producers Operating these Environments Need to be Vigilantt Resource Book pdf
Posted on March 30, 2011 | No CommentsRecently a Black Hat (hacker’s conference) had a flaw in the registration process that would have allowed people to view the video streams without paying. The issue was a test registration page that was accidentally used during the event. The person who found it reported it and it was immediately fixed. No one was able to use it. There have been reports of other platforms that have had issues all of which have been minor but these are a warning that we need to be more diligent in testing our registration systems and processes. Same goes for physical event producers…I received a letter a few months ago from an event that I had attended saying that their system had been... Read More -

Posted on March 21, 2011 | No CommentsJohn Pollard, Mediasite Product Manager, Sonic Foundry, is thoughtful guy, and his webcast, The Hybrid Event Strategy Quiz: Real-Life Answers for Virtual Event Questions, reflects this. I loved this webcast because John slips his cheat sheet, shows his work and helps to ace the Hybrid Event Strategy Quiz with flying colors. The Hybrid Event Strategy Quiz is a good webcast for people who are seeking answers of these and other important questions: Should they offer a hybrid event? Which sessions should they put online if they decide to go hybrid? How much should they charge for a virtual event pass? And how many people can they bank on attending? Where does social media fit in this scenario? How much... Read More -

What Does “Hybrid” Mean, Anyway?
Posted on March 12, 2011 | No CommentsNOTE: This “draft” was not supposed to escape incomplete as it did. Chalk it up to amateur hour and the wedding my wife and I are producing this weekend. Anyway, I’ve filled in a few blanks, and, I hope, stimulated some discussion.) A few days ago, Dennis Shiao (@dshiao) tweeted about tracking 2011 hybrid events on a wiki. Which triggered my Socratic instinct to ask a probing, serious question–what the heck does hybrid mean, anyway? Is it becoming another meaningless buzzword? Or is it just a vague, squishy term that will eventually evolve into another meaningless buzzword? I believe the concept needs serious attention from the community of event practitioners before the black hole of obfuscation consumes it. As one... Read More -
