Infographic: Virtual Environment Market Potential

April 4, 2011 – In preparation for the Virtual Edge Summit 2011, VEI published an infographic summarizing key virtual event stats. The goal of that infographic was to help those in the process of considering, researching or validating digital solutions for their organizations.

In this infographic, our goal was to demonstrate the market potential of virtual environments:

  • To determine the potential of digital solutions for meetings and events – either as a stand alone or augmentation of physical events, we pulled numbers regarding the current value of the worldwide (WW) and US physical events market
  • Within this, we delved into the industries most likely to adopt virtual environments. Note, while the CWT Survey includes pharmaceutical/medical meetings as a subset of the larger corporate market, we wanted to break that component out in the graphic.
  • Though virtual environments are primarily being applied to meetings, events, conferences, and tradeshows, we believe that these technologies will begin expanding into other horizontal applications (eLearning and enterprise social software).
  • Finally, what is the potential market size for digital solutions and virtual environments? In addition to Market Research Media’s study,  we looked at some tangentially related technologies, such as webconferencing, telepresence and collaboration, to further highlight the potential for the industry.

As the adoption of digital solutions for meetings, events, learning and community increases, we anticipate that virtual environments will become an integral part of each organization.
